Standard Deduction or Itemize

The basic standard deduction amounts for 2008 tax year are:
 
*Head of household - $8,000

*Married taxpayers filing jointly and qualifying widow(er)s - $10,900

*Married filing separate - $5,450

*Single - $5,450

Important Dates & Deadlines


January 31, 2010 - Employers must have W2s in the mail (postmarked)

April 15, 2010 - Last day to file 2007 tax returns or file for an extension

October 15, 2010 - Last day for taxpayers that filed an extension to submit their tax returns.
